Description

Discussion would be a nice addition. I have in mind something like http://discuss.joelonsoftware.com/?joel because quoting seems to make it harder to read, and nested looks like a big mess. See http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/NothingIsSimple.html

Consider a real forum using rails forum? (forgot product name). The mediawiki discussions are just horrible. Wiki does not work for real forums, despite people's best efforts to force it.

  • keywords set to Forum.
  • version changed from 0.9.2 to 0.10.0.
  • summary changed from Add discussion to Instiki to Add discussion to Instiki / Integrated Forum?.

I agree that mediawiki discussions are poorly designed; however there is little sense in having a forum tacked onto a wiki unless that forum can use the same markup and from within links to the main wiki can be made easily (and in fact, the reverse as well; the wiki's pages should be able to indicate if a discussion regards them.)

Now I don't mean that every page must have a discrete discussion. It should be possible for a wiki page to indicate that there are several seperate threads that regard it, and any given thread should be able to regard several wiki pages, each of which noticing that they are referenced.

Now did you mean RForum? Because that project has barely begun it seems. I have to admit, something more like Lussumo Vanilla (http://getvanilla.com/) but w/ Ruby on Rails might be preferable, just from an interface standpoint. On the other hand, RForum could grow that way, and it is so weak right now that Instiki could well shape much of its future development.
